I have always been the responsible one. Loyal and dependable were words that were used to describe me. On the other side of that coin was a scared and lonely kid with an abuse history no one really got to know. I filled a lot of my time trying to make other people happy so I could live in their happiness. Some of my happiest moments were our yearly camping trip with the entire extended family, breathing in the laughter and the belonging. I still had my crushing secrets, but in those moments I was also delighted in and part of something bigger.
Revision is now my something bigger. It is a place where I make it my mission to nonjudgementally understand every person that walks in my room. I will do whatever possible to help you feel safe. You are get-able and I very much want to help you find what makes you content in the world.
I have worked in a variety of settings. I worked with the St. Louis County court, assisting victims of crime and intimate partner violence. I worked at an agency in St. Louis City as the Director of a transitional psychiatric group home. And then I founded Revision in 2011, something I am the most proud of. I get to come to work everyday with people I genuinely respect, to a place I belong. I also teach in the Master’s Counseling program at Covenant Seminary from time to time, where the young learners keep me on my toes.
I enjoy working with clients who I would often term the underdogs. I like people with PTSD, C-PTSD, Dissociative Identity Disorder, Borderline Personality Disorder, sexual abuse history, narcissistic abuse, and Avoidant Attachment. I use a very relational approach (a lot of Edward Teyber’s work), paired with some CBT and DBT and EMDR. I also am a big fan of somatic work, attempting to get the body moving when processing traumatic memories as a way to move through the trauma to get it unstuck. Lastly, I enjoy teaching and speaking on a wide range of topics, with the aim of promoting conversation and understanding on living in a broken world.
